Hi (Subscriber name goes here), There is no doubt about it, San Diego is a FileMaker hot spot with many FileMaker based consultants, developers and solution providers, not to mention the large userbase of the educational, corporate & private sectors, including such institutions as the UCSD campus. It's for this reason the San Diego FMPug is extremely pleased to announce that on Thursday, July 22nd we will be launching our inaugural meeting. The meeting will be held at: CryWolf The meeting officially begins at 6:00pm, but we are encouraging people to show-up early to do a little ‘meet and greet’. We anticipate a good turn-out, so plan to arrive early on Thursday and find out who's-who in San Diego! If you do plan on joining us on Thursday, we ask that you RSVP to http://sandiego.fmpug.com. This helps us tremendously in the pre-planning process. Why the switch to FMPug?As some may already know there was in fact already a FileMaker user group in San Diego. It was a good size group that met at the UCSD campus and consisted mostly of departmental staff and its members. Although the group had a good following we came to realize, mainly due to the locale, the group wasn’t able to reach the core of the San Diego FileMaker user community. In an effort to reach a greater number of people, a more centralized meeting location was secured. It was during the quest for a new meeting locale that I learned of a growing phenomenon in the FileMaker community named “FMPug”, founded by Andy Gaunt out of Central Florida. FMPug is the destination for FileMaker Pro User Groups and is swiftly becoming the premier user group connection to all things FileMaker and beyond. The rationale behind the ‘Pug’ (as it is referred), is to form a true syndicate of FM Pro user and developer groups nationwide. By creating a more unified FM user community, FMPug is able to leverage resources and contacts that directly benefit each group and its members. This includes provisions made by vendors of FileMaker products & services, amongst others. By flying their banner for San Diego, we can help to leverage those resources & contacts, thereby strengthening our group as well as the ‘Pug’ community as a whole. We are very excited about being a member of FMPug and look forward to a truly successful venture! Getting started with a BANG!Good things have already begun to arise from this incredible FM Pro member alliance....we've secured some fantastic giveaways for the upcoming months and scored an exclusive discount offer.
